Best international students in Poland 2013

(Warsaw, 8 November 2013) Namuun has created the first Polish-Mongolian dictionary, Aliaksandr has taken part in prestigious business contests, Kun is actively helping along the cooperation between Polish and Chinese universities, Alena is recording brilliant films…

They all came to Poland to study: mastered the language, assimilated with the local student community, made lots of friends. Still, their activity goes far beyond just studies: they are visible in different fields, becoming real ambassadors of Polish universities and Poland itself in their countries of origin. These are INTERSTUDENTS 2013!

On November 8, during the Ceremony of the Polish Student Parliament Awards PROJUVENES 2013 at Palladium Theatre in Warsaw the winner nominees of the forth edition of INTERSTUDENT contest obtained diplomas and statuettes as well as valuable prizes. The contest was organized within the programme “Study in Poland” and co-funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland. The honorary patronage of the event was embraced by professor Wiesław Banyś, President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP).

The Jury of the contest consisting of: prof. Marta Kicińska-Habior – Vice-rector for Student Affairs and Education Quality of Warsaw University (the Head of the Jury), Robert Kiliańczyk – the Head of Polish PhD Students Representation, Piotr Műller – the Head of the Polish Student Parliament and Waldemar Siwiński – the President of Perspektywy Education Foundation, on getting acquainted with the profiles of tens of candidates, decided to award:

  • Alena Varaksa fromBelarus (winner’s profile), studying at Collegium Polonicum at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (category: Bachelor studies),
  • Aliaksandr M. Bialiayev from Belarus (winner’s profile), studying at Leon Koźmiński Academy in Warsaw (category: Master studies),
  • Kun Zheng from China (winner’s profile), doing his PhD course at AGH University of Scence and Technology in Cracov (category: PhD studies) and
  • Namuun Dashbold from Mongolia (winner’s profile), a student of AGH University of Scence and Technology in Cracov (Special Award).

- Looking through the candidate profiles for INTERSTUDENT contest, we paid special attention to those nominees, who through their initiatives and activities contributed to the integration of academic community, spread the knowledge about their home countries in Poland as well as became real ambassadors of our country in their motherlands, - says prof. Marta Kicińska-Habior, the Head of the Jury. – We have found four outstanding young people, who not only cope with their studies brilliantly but also stand out by their societal commitment. I am really glad such students choose Poland as their place of studies and hope their number will increase.

We would like to express our sincere congratulations to the winners and encourage all international students, gaining their higher education in Poland to take part in the following edition of the INTERSTUDENT contest.
